30, 1954, and on October 9, 1974, officially changed its name to the MICHIGAN SOCIETY OF COLON AND RECTAL SURGEONS to conform to the change made by the National Society (The American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons).<\/p>\n<p>The purpose for the Society\u2019s organization, as stated in its original Preamble (1954) was as follows:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt being generally recognized that best interests are promoted by orderly procedure and concerted dissemination of knowledge and effort, also to further advance the Specialty of Proctology and to encourage Proctologic Research; this the Michigan Proctologic Society is organized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This was restated with the change in the Society\u2019s name in 1974 as follows:<br \/>\n\u201cThe Michigan Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons is organized for the purpose of disseminating to all physicians knowledge relating to diseases of the anus, rectum and colon.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n\n<style Michigan State Medical Society as the Executive Council may direct.<\/p>\n<p>General<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Scientific papers which have previously been presented before this organization may not again be presented at the scientific session.<\/li>\n<li>A final draft of each paper to be presented before the Society shall be furnished by the author to the Secretary of the Society six weeks prior to the annual meeting at which it is to be read.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Presentation and Discussions<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>No more than thirty minutes shall be allowed for the presentation of scientific papers, except those presented by invited guests.<\/li>\n<li>Designated discussions of papers shall be limited to five minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Discussions from the floor shall be limited to three minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Discussions by non-members shall be by invitation only.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div><\/section><br \/>\n\n<style type=\"text\/css\" data-created_by=\"avia_inline_auto\"
